Entry six: Photoshop this! Photoshop that! Wait, what is Photoshop?

  • I will be introducing the history of Photoshop.
  • I will be discussing the users that uses Photoshop, and its function in this entry.

First of all, Photoshop have turned 25th this year, (throws confetti and celebrates it in my heart). Sharing this music video – Dream On from Adobe channel, the images are different layers from different working files that were being mashed up together to form this video, as these are the contributions from various artists from all over the world about their amazing dreams.

The creators of Photoshop are the Knoll brothers, Thomas and John. In the earlier stage, Photoshop was known as “Display” to show grayscale images on a monochrome display (KMahesh, 2011). Thus, developing it into a full editing program and it was named – ImagePro, while in the year of 1989 Adobe System bought it and in the year of 1990 the first Photoshop was released, it was called Photoshop 1.0 (Metronet, 2011).

The reason I have used this video in this entry because it has the information, that I found it is relevant and suitable for explaining the software – Photoshop. This video included the usage of Photoshop where it helps users such as photographers, designers, videographers, 3D artists and many more, to create, manipulate, enhance their artwork and so on. Yet, Photoshop are capable to work with other Adobe software, such as Adobe After Effect and InDesign.

Photoshop, is it a bad thing to be invented in the first place or is it a good thing which it actually enrich our visuals standard and so on? In my point of view, every thing will have their pros and cons, just that it depends on how people are going to use it. Well then, hop on! Let’s find out!

But before that, in my third entry, I have listed out a few questions regarding to Photoshop, I will start it out from here.

1) What will happen to the design world/world if Photoshop isn’t even invented?

2) Will Photoshop become an addiction after a period of usage?

3) What are the pros and cons of using Photoshop?

4) The usage of using Photoshop.
